US PET maker Wellman Inc posts 10.9-mil net losses for Q2 2008

New York-US'Wellman Inc.posted a net loss of 10.9 million for Q2 2008,down from a net loss of 11.4 million for Q2 2007.Wellman's gross profit of 6.9 million for Q2 2008,was down 1.9 million from the same period the previous year.Wellman had net sales of 281.1 million in Q2 2008,down from 299.9 million for the same period in 2007.In Q2 2008,the company's Chemical-Based Segment had revenues of 268.8 million and a profit of 10.1 million.Those numbers were down from the previous year when the segment posted revenues of 284 million and a profit of 16.7 million.Wellman said the segment's lower sales volumes,were partially offset by an increase in net selling prices.
