European styrene demand up; PS suppliers optimistic for recovery

London—Real derivative styrene demand in Europe was showing the shoots of a recovery in the first week of 2009, according to some polystyrene producers. Styrene producers and consumers, for polystyrene, were optimistic as the rush in to replenish inventories following December's destock was said to be in full swing. This has led to spot styrene prices climbing towards the $700/mt FOB Rdam mark Tuesday.
