Asian steam cracker, polyolefin runs hindered by butadiene glut

Sydney—Asia's high butadiene stocks have started to hinder steam cracker and polyolefin plant operating rates in the region, industry sources said Monday. With butadiene tanks already full, steam cracker operators in Japan and South Korea are finding it hard to significantly increase their runs although some of them would ideally want to produce more ethylene and propylene.
