China's official WTO entry brings immediate cuts in polyolefin tariffs

Tokyo/Sydney-China's formal acceptance as the 143rd member of the World Trade Organization Dec 11 will reduce tariffs on most industrial products to 8%, the WTO said, a significant drop from 1997 levels of 25%. While some of these reductions will be gradual, some immediate effects will be seen in the polyolefins markets as soon as Jan 1.
