Singapore's PCS to shut No 1 cracker

Tokyo-The Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore plans to idle its No 1 naphtha cracker in Pulau Merbau from end-August for three weeks to conduct repair works,a company source said Jul 21.The naphtha cracker has a capacity to produce 475,000 mt/yr of ethylene and 225,000 mt/yr of propylene.The company source said PCS' aromatics and BTX plant would not likely be able to remain operational after the shutdown,unless alternative pygas supply was found.
