After dropping for most of 2001, US ethylene producers hope for Jan CP rollover

Boulder-No producer moves were heard in the US ethylene contract market for January. Some speculation was discussed in the second half of December that a 1 ct/lb increase would not be unexpected, but weak PE demand seems to have killed those thoughts, market sources said Jan 2. The US ethylene contract, which ended 2001 10.5 cts/lb lower than where it began the year, stopped sliding in December with a rollover agreed early in the month.
