New DRI facilities will reverse output slide

Production of direct reduced iron (DRI) andits more transportable sister, hot briquettediron (HBI), has been on a soft downwardsslide since 2014, reflecting lower global steelproduction. Output is likely to fall this year to65 million-70 million mt, from 72.6 million mtin 2015 and 74.6 million mt in 2014, accordingto DRI technologist Midrex.
