Solutia restructures nylon unit, cuts fixed costs by 10%

Houston-Solutia announced November 21 a restructuring of its nylon business, consistent with its overall process of exploring strategic alternatives for the business. "We are implementing a restructuring plan to position the business for today's dynamic economic environment," Chairman, President and CEO of Solutia Inc. Jeffry Quinn said. "This plan will result in an annualized fixed cost reduction of approximately $40 million, or 10%, across the nylon business."
