India's GAIL urges zero import duty on LNG used as petchem feed

India's state-run gas transmission and marketing major GAIL Ltd,has urged the government to abolish the 5% import duty on liquefied natural gas if the imported gas was used as feedstock to produce petrochemicals,a senior company official said April 25.GAIL made the request several weeks ago,the official said,adding,there has been no response thus far.The official said GAIL made the request,as there is no duty on naphtha if it was imported for use as feedstock to produce petrochemicals.
