LOS ANGELES-New regulations the California Air Resources Board adopted Nov.16-17 will curb air pollutant emissions from consumer products. At a meeting in San Francisco,CARB set new volatile organic compound (VOC)limits for 15 categories of consumer products, including common household cleaners and waxes and automotive care products.By 2012,the new limits will cut statewide emissions of VOCs,which contribute to ground level ozone,by 11.7 tons a day.Reformulating the products will cost about 20 million a year,or about 2.35 per pound of VOCs reduced, according to CARB.
