A report released Oct.25 by a European Union organization that educates the public about nanotechnology seeks to explain why nanotechnology is increasingly being used to make a wide variety of consumer products.Written in English,the report,Nanotechnology in Consumer Products,explains how the manipulation of atoms and molecules can give products desirable characteristics such as stain or fire resistance,special strength,or increased ability to transmit information electronically.The report was prepared by the Nanofd-rum,a coalition of research institutions funded by the European Union's research budget.
