The idea is to put a pigmented, weatherable surface of DuPont's 'Surlyn Reflection' nylon 6/ionomer over a lower-cost core of polypropylene or EPDM-modified polypropylene TPO. A British firm has solved the problem of "hesitation marks" on the surface by modifying the process to ensure that injection of the surface layer never stops while the part is being injected.
