Covestro in Collaboration to Develop Novel Glass-Wool Reinforced Polycarbonates

In a move aimed at developing novel, higher-strength PC compounds reinforced with glass wool, Covestro, Pittsburgh, has entered into a collaborative agreement with Japan's Nanodax Co., Ltd., which has developed a special process for manufacturing such materials. It appears that Nanodax's new technology offers advantages over glass fibers as reinforcing agents. The glass wool boasts both a smaller diameter and greater flexibility than glass fibers. Both companies see good prospects for such new reinforced PCs in automotive, IT, and electronics applications.
