China's Qinhe Energy bids for Hunter Valley coal exploration license

Chinese coal company Qinhe Energy Group and Xstrata have each applied for coal exploration licenses in the Hunte Valley coalfield, according to the New South Wales government. The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries had sought expressions of interest from mining companies interested in exploring for coal in the East Bargo area of the state's Southern coalfield and for the Ridgelands coal exploration area in the Hunter Valley. The closing date for applications was October 15.
