Lack of Asian demand exerts downward pressure on coking coal

Limited demand from key Asian markets, together with recovering Australian production, continued to exert downward pressure on seaborne coking coal prices Friday, July 22. HCC 64 Mid Vol slipped by $1.50/mt to $266/mt FOB Australia. The tighter premium segment was more resil- ient, as displayed by a recent deal at $310/mt FOB. Platts Premium Low Vol edged down by $1/mt to $308/mt FOB.
