Prices for March-delivery Newcastle thermal cargoes remained high in comparison to April and May this week, although nearby market tightness had eased with many buyers in north-east Asia appearing to be covered for Q1 thanks partly to re-selling by Chinese traders. March Newcastle thermal coal was bid at $128/mt on the glo balCOAL screen during the Asian trading window February 16, while the best-priced bid for April was $115/mt. May was mean-while seen at $120.25/mt against an offer of $124/mt.
