South Korean buyers ratchet up purchases of Newcastle coal exports

South Korean coal purchasers booked one-quarter of the 8.4 million mt of Australian coal exported from Port Waratah Coal Services’s coal terminals in January - a 50% increase on the amount of coal exports bought for loading in December, according to data released by PWCS February 1. Ships headed to South Korea loaded approximately 2.1 million mt of coal exports at PWCS’s two Newcastle port coal terminals during January, compared with 1.4 million mt of coal exports shipped to South Korea from the terminals in December.
