EDC: The Asian ethylene dichloride market firmed Thursday, lifted by firming upstream and downstream markets. Upstream, multiple steam cracker outages pushed ethylene prices $50-82/mt higher on week and they settled Thursday at $1,011/mt CFR NEA and $981/mt CFR SEA. Downstream, the VCM market also firmed $20/mt to $801/mt CFR NEA and $819/mt CFR SEA. Amid this, EDC offers remained near $500/mt CFR NEA and $480-490/mt CFR SEA this week. Market sources said EDC demand in China remained strong for non-vinyls production. In SEA, demand was also reported to be firm amid rising ethylene and VCM values.
