Asian prices eased due to weaker demand and a weaker restocking appetite with the the peak production cycle anticipated to ease ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and Golden Week holidays. CFR China prices fell 0.82%, or $16/mt to $1,939/mt, while CFR Southeast Asian prices fell 0.38%, or $7.50/mt, to $1,947.50/mt. South Korea’s Kumho reported selling cargoes of “above 100 mt lot-size” at $1,940/mt CFR China this week, while cargoes below “100 mt lot-sizes” were traded with a slight premium at $1,950/mt. Platts did not fully factor this into the assessment, as the buyer was unnamed. In the domestic Chinese market, cargoes continued to be traded unchanged at Yuan 16,500/mt ($1,944/mt import-parity basis), almost on parity with CFR China cargoes as the differential narrowed to a mere $5/mt on ample supplies.
