European polystyrene converters were under pressure from senior management to resist any contract increases above feedstock cost, one converter source said Tuesday. Converters face steep PS contract price increases in January following a January styrene contract price settlement of Eur1,018/mt FD NWE, up Eur172/mt from the December CP settlement. “I cannot accept PS producer increases of around Eur190/mt. My first offer was for a January increase of Eur150/mt and then see in February,” the converter said. “This [contract] is absolutely not [yet] agreed.
