European contract values for April were reported higher this week. Gross values in injection grade have increased to a Eur1,190-1,200/mt FD NWE ($1,633/mt) level. This translates to a Eur20/mt increase versus March, converters and producers confirmed. A producer said that a Eur20/mt increase in injection contracts was “a worse case scenario,” being able to achieve bigger increases in the rest of his business. Producers said that while there was no pronounced shortage in the European injection market, swing producers continued to be strongly incentivized to favor LLDPE production instead of HDPE, as it offers better returns.
