The European February ethylene contract price settled Tuesday at Eur940/mt ($1,300/mt) FD NWE. The initial settlement was done by Polimeri Europa as a seller and Ineos as a buyer, sources at both parties confirmed. Shortly after the initial settlement, LyondellBasell followed with its supplier Polimeri Europa, then with its second supplier BPRP, the German arm of BP, sources at Polimeri and LyondellBasell confirmed. BPRP did not confirm the settlement. Then BASF and Ineos Oxide reported following, with Total Petrochemicals also confirmed following the settlement with LyondellBasell. By the end of the week, the contract price gained further market acceptance.
