Paraxylene fell $5 Friday to close at $1,038/mt FOB Korea and $1,055/mt CFR Taiwan/China. There were no participants during the Market on Close assessment process, and the aromatics were all trying to find their footing after being hard hit by falling crude as well as talk of China tightening credit for most of the week. Earlier in the day, a bid for any-March arrival was heard at $1,010/mt CFR Taiwan/Ningbo, and it was raised to $1,030/mt CFR, but did not manage to draw out any sellers, setting the floor for March.
