The 3-to-30 day assessment of US styrene fell 1.25 cents/lb this week on weaker benzene. January benzene saw a week-on-week dip of 9.50 cents/gal to 372.50 cents/gal FOB USG. February was seen at a roughly half a cent discount. On Friday NYMEX February crude futures were assessed at $78.05/barrel, which was $4.79 lower compared to January 8 when the NYMEX closed at $82.84/barrel. With benzene flat to end the week and crude falling, the benzene-to-crude ratio finally breached 1-to-2.
