Export prices rose after Formosa’s 58 cents/lb offer was gobbled up by traders a day after the offer opened. Initially traders were hesitant about the price but after not finding other offers in the US, and checking with their overseas counterparts, traders bought all Formosa had to offer for February. Supply of LLDPE was tighter than high density grades and traders felt more comfortable taking positions on LL than blow molding. At 58 cents/lb in railcars or 60.5 cents/lb FAS ($1400/mt), prices would have to move higher in China to make deals work, but there were still other regions that could take the price.
