BASF will increase its general purpose polystyrene prices effective February 1, by Eur45/mt, effectively increasing margins on polymers. PS producers are targeting a margin rise of up to Eur66/mt in February, with a Eur50/mt increase above the month’s feedstock styrene contract price which was itself down by Eur13-16/mt from January. The hike moves the price in the opposite direction to feedstock styrene monomer, which BASF settled down Eur13/mt compared to January at Eur1,005/mt FD NWE.
