Climbing feedstock prices were providing an upward push for US ABS prices. The delivered rail car price was assessed this week at 87 cents/lb, up a penny from last week. The US styrene price was near 55 cents/lb, up nearly 4 cents from last week. A fire at a German BASF facility on Wednesday sent European styrene prices to $1,270/mt FOB Rdam for January product. At that level, the arb from the US would be open for prices near 54.5 cents/lb. Sellers were heard closer to 56 cents/lb. A 55 cents/lb deal was rumored done, but not confirmed.
