The MEG market was steady on the week despite a tight supply. There was a barge offer talked at 38.5 cents/lb FOB but no deals were heard at that level. There was firm demand for spot material due to LyondellBasell’s 50% allocation from a late July outage which was followed by a planned September turnaround. “The market’s going to be tight through November,” a participant said. In addition to LyondellBasell’s supply troubles, MEGlobal continued to have its customers on 100% sales control.
