Linear low density polyethylene remained flat on the week to be assessed at $1,175/mt CFR Far East Asia as the market lacked direction on the back of fluctuating crude and futures prices. In South Asia, the price was up $25/mt to end at $1,280/mt CFR basis on strong demand from India. NYMEX crude ended at $72/barrel Wednesday, almost similar week on week. Similarly, the most-traded LLDPE January futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange closed at Yuan 10,375/mt ($1,523/mt) Wednesday, only Yuan 30/mt higher on the week. Mid-East producers offered at $1,210-1,240/mt CFR China this week, defying Chinese domestic price trends as they target “re- export factories” who enjoy tax concessions on PE resins when they export finished products.
