The US September butadiene market saw a split settlement with three of the four suppliers agreeing to down 2 cents to 92 cents/lb but one seller was holding out for plus 2 cents to 96 cents/lb, sources reported Friday. Manufacturer ExxonMobil was the hold out, participants said, but the company did not confirm by time of press. The other three major producers are Texas Petrochemicals, LyondellBasell and Shell Chemical. The US market has not seen a split settlement since July 2000, sources said. At least one buyer hoped to max out contract volumes from the other three producers, as he did not require as much butadiene this month.
