EDC:The second half of August saw a flurry of business for September within the above mentioned range, an increase of around $20/mt from the end of July. Some sources saw the potential for further upside and one trading source attributed this to surprisingly strong buy interest. Other contributory factors were firming global fundamentals, the potential for a higher ethylene contract price in Europe and aspirations for stronger PVC vales against a backdrop of flat caustic.
