US polypropylene demand was characterized as strong this week while supply was hampered by planned and unplanned shutdowns. Most recently, Ineos’ ability to meet its current commercial obligations for homopolymer polypropylene may have been compromised, the company said in a letter to US customers this week. Specific details were not immediately available, however the company pointed to an unforeseeable loss of feedstock and resulting complications from one of its production facilities as factors behind the situation.
