Strong demand and tightening supplies pushed the US acrylonitrile price more than $100 higher this week. “In Asia you’re seeing more demand for ABS and fiber. Europe has demand for fiber. We’ve seen supplies lost in December and January. And Asia is in turnaround season. All of that is pushing the US price to near $1,900. We should get there by the end of January,” a source said. The US price this week was assessed at $1,850/mt, up $135 from last week.
