The European spot market continued to be impacted by offers of imported volume from the US and the Middle East, with sources commenting on some European producers stepping in to defend their positions. However, spot values remained between Eur1,150-1,160/mt ($1,486/mt) FD NWE this week and the profile of imported volume started to diminish with much already committed and arbitrage economics from the US starting to look less attractive, sources said. While European prices still commanded a significant premium over Asian values, European sources did not report renewed selling interest from the Middle East as yet. Asian LLDPE prices edged higher this week, supported by strong demand in South Asia. In Far East Asia, LLDPE was assessed $5/mt higher on the week at $1,145/mt CFR Wednesday.
