The Asian PVC market was unmoved this week amid directionless trading after most producers in the region finished their September business at $960-970/mt CFR China. Their September settlement prices were $50-60/mt higher than August prices of $910-920/mt CFR China. The Asian producers are now considering their initial offers for October business, which would likely be revealed in next two weeks. Most producers are not optimistic about October business as China’s buying appetite would likely weaken due to the week-long national day holiday early October. Some market sources said bearish sentiment has already started to set into the Asian PVC market amid weakening crude oil futures. Overnight Tuesday, NYMEX October crude oil futures settled $2.78 lower at $71.92/b. “Compared with one month ago, the price range dropped to $70-75/mt barrel from $75-80/mt,” said a Japanese producer.
