Prices rose $30/mt on the week in China, but the increase did little to ease PP’s deeply negative margins. PP prices gained $25/mt in SE Asia and $7.50/mt in the Indian subcontinent from a week ago. The PP price increases lagged a $50/mt rise in the price of propylene on the week to $1,190/mt CFR China, which was being driven by supply concerns. Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are scheduled to take down seven propylene plants in February and March for maintenance, which will remove about 170,000 mt of production.
