With refinery grade prices hovering near 47 cents/lb this week, sources estimated that January monomer pricing could make slight gains, putting further upward pressure on polypropylene prices. Participants suggested that monomer contracts in January could be flat to up a penny/lb, however at time of press no nominations were heard. December monomer contracts were at 52.50 cents/lb for CGP and at 54 cents/lb for PGP. Meanwhile, despite participants’ recent reports of improved polypropylene demand, liquidity remained thin this week, due in part to the pending Christmas holiday.
