Indonesia to import under 1 mil mt of LPG in 2010 to meet demand

Jakarta — Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina said Wednesday it may need 909,037 mt of LPG to fulfill its domestic demand in 2010 which is expected to reach 4.338 million mt. Pertmina's estimated LPG imports for 2009 are 1.152 million mt. "We will likely import the deficit LPG consumption in 2010," deputy director of Pertamina's trading and marketing division Hanung Budya said. "It could be through an international import tender or buy in the spot market if our forecast figure is lower." Domestic LPG demand in 2010 will comprise of 3.077 million mt from subsidized consumption and another 1.261 million from unsubsidized utilization, Budya said.
