Contract prices are to jump 2.5-3 cents/lb in January following higher Asia contract price announcements and North American benchmarks. Asian contracts were nominated at $920-940/mt CFR, which a participant estimated would mean ACP related US contracts at around 38 cents/lb FOB. In addition, MEGlobal nominated its January North American benchmark at 44 cents/lb, up 4 cents/lb from December. For large volume contracts, participants have said there is as much as a 15% discount off the benchmark, which would put those contracts at close to 37.4 cents/lb. With large volume buyers set to pay at least 37 cents/lb FOB, the truck and rail market was expected to be close to 40 cents/lb FOB.
