European HDPE converters were targeting a reduction of at leastEur95/mt in their July contract prices, in line with the cut in theJuly CP for feedstock ethylene. The seasonal summer lull wouldexacerbate the already sluggish demand, many converters said,adding they be reluctant to restock as prices continued to fall. Aconverter said a reduction of Eur95-100/mt was justified for July.“Things are easing up because of the [summer] holiday,” aconverter said, adding that availability had far outstrippedcurrent demand. “Prices will have to follow the ethylene [CP]drop. Producers haven’t got much space to move theirmaterial,” he said.
