Asian styrene monomer ended at significantly higher levels overall. With the FOB Korea benchmark assessed Friday at $1,212.25/mt, SM was up $19.50/mt on the day and up $68.50/mt on the week. The CFR China benchmark also reflected similar gains, increasing $17.50/mt on the day, and up $64.50/mt on the week to rest at $1,227.50/mt Friday. On Wednesday, concerns over the tight supply of SM from South Korea due to a heavy turnaround schedule in first quarter 2010, triggered a frenzy of aggressive buying.
