Low density export prices fell slightly as some producers sold off excess inventory before the end of the year. Despite higher prices in China, deals were done at 54-55 cents/lb FAS Houston, 2.5 cents/lb under Westlake deals that were talked a week ago. Some traders said it was hard to find LDPE, but other traders said there were producers who still had stock to shake off before end of year inventory taxes are assessed. The price was expected to rebound in January as producers could afford to build inventory in the new year rather than feel pressured to dump material to the export market.
