Asian PET bottle chips prices were unchanged Wednesday froma week earlier, settling at $1,610/mt FOB Northeast Asia and$1,620/mt FOB Southeast Asia. Feedstock monoethylene glycol,which saw a turbulent cycle last week, rallied as Taiwan’s NanYa Plastics confirmed that all its MEG lines would be shut byJune 20. Nan Ya has four MEG lines with a combined capacityof 1.78 million mt/year and has been ordered to shut to addresssafety issues. But the Taiwanese authorities have not given thecompany a restart date, so MEG spot prices escalated this week,closing Wednesday at $1,248/mt CFR China, up $9/mt week onweek.
