Poland’s PKN Orlen has both its 400,000 mt/year paraxyleneplant in Plock and its 600,000 mt/year purified terephthalicacid plant at Wloclawek operating normally, a companysource confirmed Thursday. The two plants started up at theend of April. While current run rates are not known, acompany spokesman previously said the plants would notoperate above 70% capacity during 2011. One PET producersaid Friday PKN Orlen deliveries are now more regular, andthe PTA market in Europe had become balanced. However,another PET producer said Thursday that although PKNOrlen’s plant was operating, he saw the market for PTA inEurope still tight.
