The rebound in Asian markets and crude prices brought theEuropean propylene market to a standstill this week, with bothbuyers and sellers giving opposing views on the marketdirection. Most suppliers and traders refused to sell at low pricesand opted to hold on to their stock for the meantime,confident that the market would soon turn as Chinese demand and feedstock naphtha cost started to gain momentum. “Themarket is fairly relaxed,” a supplier said, adding: “I doubt ifmaterial is flowing at current prices.” A producer said he wouldrather keep his stock and await developments over the nexttwo weeks. No firm bids and offers were heard this week, withsome sources saying they heard a few suppliers preferring topay storage cost rather than sell at current levels.
