The NWE butadiene market was split this week, as a bearish prompt outlook contrasted with confidence for the late August and September market, sources said. The domestic prompt market was also not seen as bullish, with reports of European consumers looking to sell product and lower demand in Europe. One producer even called the market “long” this week, and said that bids would be below $4,000/mt. “The market could be in slowdown,” the producer said, adding, “It all depends on a seller’s position. If you have length now, then the price can lower.
