PVC buying in Latin America continued to be weak week on week as participants awaited September offers, sources said. In Peru, demand continued to be sluggish as public works projects remained on hold as a new government took office recently. In Brazil, local traders reported muted activity. They also said the market expected the Brazilian government to announce this week the new antidumping fees that US PVC producers would pay starting September. No offers from US producers were heard this week. Meanwhile, Colombian offers were expected to roll over to September at around $1,260-1,300/mt CFR Brazil. However, one trader said those price levels were not attractive as the Brazilian market was expecting lower offers from US manufacturers. One source said he heard a US September offer at $900/mt FAS Houston, although confirmation was not available by time of publication.
