GPPS: Asian general-purpose polystyrene was assessed down$15/mt week on week at $1,525/mt CFR China and$1,540/mt CFR Southeast Asia Wednesday, tracking softerfeedstock styrene monomer and suffering from poor demandin key market China. Several market participants saidpolystyrene is a little better supported than acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, and that GPPS is weaker than high-impactpolystyrene. SM prices slipped $19/mt week on weekWednesday to $1,399/mt CFR China. The sharpest GPPS offerthis week was heard at $1,530/mt from a Taiwanese producerwith other producers quoting prices from $1,550/mt andupwards. But the domestic price in China remains low ataround Yuan 11,500/mt, or roughly $1,425/mt on an importparity basis.
