Asian styrene monomer fell $19/mt day on day to $1,439/mt FOB Korea Friday and was down $18/mt to $1,418/mt CFR China as the offers came down. The change week on week was down $15/mt on an FOB Korea basis and down $17/mt on a CFR China basis. The expected tightness in the market in April and May due to turnarounds among Northeast Asian producers did not seem to have triggered any demand from China so far as the country has ample supplies of SM at the moment. Estimates of the inventory level range from 145,000 mt to above 200,000 mt, compared with 140,000 mt in the same period last year.
