US PTA prices were expected to climb as PET demand was heard strengthening, and feedstock paraxylene values were stronger. There were signs of softening in the US PX market at the end of the week, though, as energy values fell. A PET source said demand has picked up as buyers hoped to get ahead of the climbing PX prices. “Some people are trying to buy int he mid- 80s [cents/lb range],” a PET source said. “There are no sellers there. There was a window a couple of weeks ago when that price might have worked. But not any more.”
